3 day Ha Long Bay experience
by Tripadvisor

We organised with the brilliant Mia Nguyen at Best Price travel for a 3 day, 2 night tour with Orchid cruises on their nostalgia boat. Mia’s help and organisation was brilliant. Due to the typhoon we had to change plans but she was helpful, friendly and organised throughout. We genuinely could not have asked for more from her. The boat was clean, comfortable and with some absolutely brilliant staff. We are well, plenty of options and lots of food available. The trips we took from the boat were even better than expected. An amazing experience.

Guide in Hue/ Hoi An: We had Mrs. Thuy as our guide in Hoi An and Ms. Van in Hue city.. Even though the
weather was not favorable to us in Hoi An, Mrs. Thuy took us around the rice terraces of
Hoi An. Also Mrs. Van took us to the ancient city of Hue and we enjoyed the Riverwalk
stroll and the cultural show.
Guide in Ho Chi Minh: Mr. Bach is very knowledgeable the enthusiastic in showing and explaining the history
of Ho Chi Minh City. We enjoyed the war museum even though it is sad and distress to
watch the display of the museum.
Guide in Sapa: The guide took us to the Cat-Cat village and explained the details. We had a chance to
watch the cultural performance done by the local artists. The walk to the village was
little tedious.
Hotel in Hanoi: The hotel in Hanoi, O’Gallery Premier Hotel was good and the Staff were extremely
friendly and helpful.
Hotel in Ho Chi Minh: We loved our stay at the Eden Star Saigon hotel. The hotel is very much in the center of
everything.
Hotel in Hue: The stay at the corner room of the Eldora Hotel in Hue city was an exceptional
experience.
Hotel in Hoi An: The Silkotel in Hoi An was very quiet and we enjoyed the stay there.

I had the pleasure of meeting outstanding tour guides. Their wealth of knowledge and warmth enriched my journey immensely.
I found myself reluctant for the adventure to end, particularly cherishing the unforgettable experiences of the Halong Bay and Mekong Delta tours. The accommodations were superbly located for exploring the cities.
With no complaints whatsoever, I eagerly anticipate booking with this company again. Highly recommended for a worry-free, unforgettable experience where lifelong memories are made effortlessly. Dive in and relish the journey—you won't be disappointed....Less

Sapa:
Sapa stole my heart with its lush rice terraces and welcoming hill tribe communities. Trekking through the misty mountains and staying in a local homestay was an unforgettable experience.
Halong Bay:
Cruising through Halong Bay felt like stepping into a postcard. The towering limestone karsts and emerald waters were simply breathtaking. Sunset on the deck of our boat was pure magic.
Hoi An:
Hoi An was so charming with its lantern-lit streets and rich history. Exploring the ancient town by bike and indulging in delicious local cuisine made for a perfect day.
Hue:
Hue's imperial citadel was a fascinating glimpse into Vietnam's past. The Perfume River is a highlight of the city's beauty.
Ho Chi Minh City:
Ho Chi Minh City's energy is infectious! From the historic landmarks to the bustling markets, there's never a dull moment in this vibrant metropolis.
Mekong Delta:
The Mekong Delta's lush landscapes and bustling floating markets were a feast for the senses. Sampling fresh fruit and cruising along the river was the perfect way to unwind.

After that, we transfer to Lao Cai by overnight train which is such a thrilling experience. Sapa is total opposite to the city like Hanoi. It has he beauty of nature and traditional ethnic minorities. I bought a lot of unique souvenirs there.
After that, We got to visit the UNESCO Heritage Halong Bay. There are many exciting sports and water activities.
Next we move down to the central are. Hue and Hoi An are both old towns but they have distinctive beauty. While Hue's charm lays on the tranquility Huong River and ancient relics, Hoi An are famous for its lanterns and tailor stores. We enjoyed both places.
Then we come to Ho Chi Minh. This city is quite similar to Hanoi.
The trip at Mekong Delta is the most fun. The experience there, from the boat trip to xe loi trip, is so one-of-the-kind.
Our last destination is Siem Reap. All the attractions are gorgeous and represent the Khmer art so well.
That was a wonderful trip. We totally satisfied and will recommend this tour for our friends.

From exploring Hanoi's busy streets to marveling at Angkor Wat's ancient temples, every moment was awesome. We learned a lot at historical sites like the Cu Chi Tunnels and Hue's Imperial City.
The overnight cruise in Halong Bay was a highlight, surrounded by stunning views. And watching the sunrise over Angkor Wat was magical.
Overall, our tour was unforgettable. We gained a deeper appreciation for these countries' beauty and culture, thanks to our guides and the entire Bestrate team.

The accommodations were mostly good, with comfortable rooms and good facilities. However, there were a few hotels that were not up to par and could use some improvement. The breakfasts provided at each hotel were ok and had a wide variety of options.
The activities included in the tour were all enjoyable and gave us a great insight into the culture and history of Vietnam and Cambodia. Some of the highlights for me were the boat trip in Halong Bay, and the Angkor Wat complex in Siem Reap.
The transportation provided throughout the tour was comfortable and reliable. We traveled by plane, bus, and boat, and everything was well-organized and on time.
I would recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the highlights of Vietnam and Cambodia. While there were some negative aspects, the tour was well-planned, the accommodations were mostly good, and the activities were enjoyable and informative. It was definitely a great experience.

A few of the very positive highlights that stood out for us include the following:
1. The hotels were all in excellent locations and were very comfortable. We were very pleased with all our accommodations.
2. The private transportation from the airports, and for sightseeing, was perfect. The vans were very clean and comfortable and the drivers felt safe and reliable and they were all friendly.
3. All the flights you booked for us were excellent. Check-in was easy. Our group of four was able to sit together on all our flights. Vietnam Air and Cambodia Angkor Air were clean and felt very safe.
4. The logistics of our overall travel ran very smoothly. Things were planned very well with plenty of time between activities to catch our breath. Everyone and everything was on time and our itinerary flowed very smoothly.
5. It was great to be able to book a private tour and customize it. We really liked that level of personalization.
6. Our guide in Hoi An, Mr. Nguyen, made a particularly positive impression upon us. In addition to showing us the sights, Mr. Nguyen personally brought it all to life through stories of his own experience growing up in Vietnam. He made the sightseeing in Hoi An very interesting and memorable.
7. Our communication with you was excellent. From the time we first reached out to you nearly 9 months ago right up until when we left for home, you were always very responsive and service-oriented. We appreciate that.
8. We stopped by the Bestrate Travel office in Ho Chi Minh City to ask a few questions when we first arrived and everyone there was very friendly and helpful.
Overall, we were very pleased with our experience!
We do have one suggestion for Bestrate Travel that we hope might be useful in thinking about future arrangements for customers. We would recommend that a couple months in advance of any tour (around when Vietnam Visa applications need to be submitted), to share a checklist with your customers of things they should know, do, or bring on their tour. There were a few important items that if we had known about them in advance, we could have handled them better

The only slightly disappointing thing was the arranged meals in local restaurants which we sometimes did not visit due to poor trip advisor reports, and it would have helped if we had had the details of these before we started the tour so that we might have asked you to change them. Also the Jade Sails tour of Halong Bay was different, and shorter, than you had outlined.
However this did not affect our total enjoyment of our time in Vietnam and we think you have a great country with very friendly people ...Less

Hoi An: Hoi An is truly beautiful especially at night! There are too many tourists here, especially between 1600-2000 pm
Hue: We enjoyed the tour this morning. Twan is a very good guide.
Hanoi: The tour today was good. Li is a good guide.
We also enjoyed the water puppet theater.
Halongbay: The cruise is very nice. Lam Ha Bay is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth!

Not your normal group trip, this one. They will tailor the trip for you based on the number of people in your "group," which you specify. We were two people, and we had a private vehicle, driver, and tour guide the entire time. Such a benefit! You can request adjustments to your schedule because this is a personalized tour, especially if you have unique needs. (She arranged for a golf cart because I can't ride a bicycle)
Make sure your travel advisor is aware of any physical restrictions you may have because there are relatively few attractions that are accessible to those with disabilities and some of the sites on our agenda required numerous steps. There isn't much downtime, so if you need more time to decompress, request it. Moreover, be sure you thoroughly review your schedule to ensure that all the information is accurate.
Someone was there for us at the airport to pick us up and transport us to our hotel from the beginning and during the entire tour. Simply keep an eye out for someone who is holding a sign with your name on it.
This itinerary has several pagodas and Buddhist sanctuaries. These piqued our interest and were important for us to fully comprehend the culture.
The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and some (but not all) of the pagodas would likely be skipped if we were to take the journey again. You might request that the itinerary be changed if you are not interested in this component of the tour.
There are some genuine advantages to booking a Vietnam holiday through a travel agency. The top hotels and attractions are known to them because this is their home nation. Even though we stayed in "Deluxe" rooms, the whole cost was still pretty reasonable for us. Certain meals and evenings are included in the tour, but the others are on your own. By Western standards, the price of food is very affordable.
Tipping is not required, despite what the books and our agency advised, but most people seem to assume it. We found the tip amount to be irritating. We gave most of our guides in Vietnam the equivalent of $10 a day, and we gave our drivers between $5 and $8 per day (depending on how much driving they did). Later in the trip, after we requested for advice, our Bestrate adviser offered it to us, although I'm confident we frequently overpaid or underpaid tips. They are extremely nice and don't respond to the amount, so it's difficult to tell. Without even glancing at it, they could even pocket the tip. Everything in Cambodia is priced in US dollars
Some of the guides were more fluent in English than others. Although their accent may be a hindrance, they won't take offense if you ask them to repeat something. Most people can have a decent conversation, especially if you refrain from using slang and don't get angry when they don't immediately comprehend what you're saying. Try to keep your phrases brief and stick to "ordinary" language when choosing your words. We had no linguistic barriers because English is generally widely spoken on a global scale.
